Beyond Memorial is a design, spatial, and healing justice response to the invisible, yet palpable scars left in spaces after community trauma and loss. The Brownsville Keepers, a youth-led group trained in community peacemaking, reclaimed 3 sites for safer passages for youth. They also addressed the historical or community trauma associated with loss in each space. Highlighting the sites with color and lights at night, the Keepers create a reminder of their advocacy for peaceful and vibrant spaces for the Brownsville community at large.
